I close my eyes. At first, I see nothing but darkness. Then, in a burst of brilliance, my vision restores and I am in someplace new and untouched. As far as the eye can see there is vast water, completely smooth and sound. I tentatively rest my foot upon the slick surface ever so gently, afraid that even the slightest amount of pressure could break the enticing trance of the water's calmness.
